Toast to Sustainability: Celebrating Earth Day with Partners Committed to Sustainable Practices

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Happy Point Reyes Cheese cow

Since its inception, purple cork has been dedicated to building exclusive partnerships with brands that offer the highest quality, most-loved farm to table (or bar) products and experiences.  Sustainability is a guiding practice for many of these companies, as it is for us. In this Earth Day blog, we're taking a look at three purple cork partners that are paving the way for a sustainable future.

First up, we have Point Reyes Cheese, where sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a way of life. The website states, “Because the happiness of our cows depends on healthy diets and land stewardship, sustainability is placed above all else.”

Point Reyes Cheese harvests methane-powered renewable energy. Water is conserved through innovative reuse and recycling programs and they manage their nutrient-rich pastures with careful attention to erosion control. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions they use farming practices that maximize carbon sequestration. And, because cows are the stars of the show, to ensure their comfort, they use state-of-the-art robotic technology in their dairy parlors. Point Reyes Cheese is setting an example for the cheese industry and the planet as a whole.

Next on the list is Barrel Brothers Brewing Company. Not only do they make some delicious beer, but they're also serious about sustainability. In fact, it’s one of the only things that this fun-loving company is serious about.

They use renewable energy sources, like solar power, and have implemented water-saving measures in their brewing process. They’re passionate about reducing food waste and even use a vacuum distillation process to make non-alcoholic beer and repurpose the extracted alcohol to make their canned cocktails. And all the spent grain? It's sent to a local cattle rancher. Talk about resourcefulness!

Finally, we have SAMsARA Winery, a California-based winery that's taken stewardship of the environment to the next level. They use organic and biodynamic farming practices, which promote soil health and reduce the need for synthetic chemicals. Plus, they've got water-saving measures and have even earned SIP certification for sustainability. Their reduced, reused and recycled packaging policy and use of renewable energy sources like solar power are just the cherry on top.

Let's raise a glass to sustainability and our partners who practice what they preach and make sustainability a core part of their mission.

Looking to host an April tasting event for prospects, customers or your team? Why not partner with purple cork? You’ll not only get to introduce an exclusive brand to your audience, but you can rest assured knowing they are rooted in sustainable practices.
