For former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, the dream was always bigger than the bright lights of the football field - it extended back home to the Walla Walla Valley. Throughout his 14-year career, Drew envisioned life beyond the game, and upon his retirement in 2007, he and his wife, Maura, “doubled back” to plant their first estate vineyard, McQueen, at the southern end of the Walla Walla Valley AVA.
Drew and Maura founded Doubleback with a clear vision: to craft world-class, estate-focused Cabernet Sauvignon. From the beginning, their goal was never to create just another celebrity label, but to make wines of place and purpose—wines they themselves love.
Today, the team remains dedicated to meticulous, sustainable viticulture and thoughtful winemaking, ensuring each bottle of Doubleback reflects the very best of Walla Walla Valley.

Founder of Doubleback Winery
American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons, primarily with the New England Patriots, and was selected by the Patriots first overall in the 1993 NFL draft. Bledsoe led them to four playoff appearances, two division titles, and one Super Bowl appearance. And now he brings his Walla Walla pride and down-to-earth personality to Purple Cork Zooms!
